Simplest method i have come across yet is simply:

sudo apt-get install nvidia-driver-450

If you have already attempted to install drivers, and now wish to try this method, then simply run:

sudo apt-get purge nvidia*

This removes old packages, then you can try the above mentioned method.

Simple! hopefully...
